District plan for 5-day in-school instruction pushed back due to COVID

Until further notice, all grades to begin 5-day classroom instruction on April 19.

On Wednesday afternoon, Haddonfield School District Superintendent Chuck Klaus issued a letter to the community, informing that the intended start of Phase III, which embraces 5-day in-person instruction, would be pushed back one week from April 12 to April 19.

Reasons for the change are primarily due to the way COVID-19 cases spiked following “sustained breaks from school” in the fall and winter

Based on original projections, grades 1 through 5 were to have gone back on April 12, with grades 6 through 12 following on April 19. Now, all grades will start 5-day in-school classes on the 19th.

Klaus concluded, “We owe a great deal of the successes we have had thus far not only to the support and excellence of our teachers, support staff, and administrators, but to the diligence and cooperation of our district families.

“We cannot put enough emphasis on the importance of putting the community first by considering others when making decisions to keep our community safe and by following district COVID guidance, particularly when it comes to travel and completion of the daily COVID screening.”
