CamCo logs 150 more confirmed cases

Average number of cases reported per day still rising despite almost one quarter of a million vaccine doses administered.

The Camden County Department of Health revealed on Tuesday 150 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 42,943 in Camden County today and 1,123 total fatalities.

“Since St. Patrick’s Day, the average number of new cases per day has increased from 102 to 144. With Passover and Easter upon us, we can’t ignore the possibility of another holiday-induced surge,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“This virus is still active in our community and we cannot afford to let our guards down. The present holidays must be treated like others with strict mask wearing and social distancing to protect one another and to stop the spread. Even if you are vaccinated, keep gatherings small and minimize the number of households coming together. We are getting closer to the end of this crisis but this disease can still do incredible harm in our community if left unchecked.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

To date, 249,737 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There are 162,145 people with at least one vaccine dose, and 94,458 people who are fully vaccinated.

n addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,329 confirmed resident cases and 1,338 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 42,943 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 460 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,123 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
