Time to shake off the winter doldrums. The Moorestown Parks and Department has many programs this spring for adults — from the ever-popular pickleball to personal finance. Most classes will begin after Spring Break.

Pickleball sessions are for adults 18 and older. This sport has become extremely popular because of its accessibility. It’s easy to learn at any age or fitness level, very engaging and has a social component. It combines tennis, ping-pong and badminton for a fast-paced, incredibly fun time. There will be four sessions, each for two and half hours. Participants can play as much as you like on Monday evening session from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday has two sessions beginning March 16, a daytime session from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and an evening session from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays beginning March 18 will have a day session from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Tennis participation increased by 22 percent in 2020. Come out and see why. Beginner adult tennis starts on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. April 13 for five weeks. Missy Mercer is a USPTR certified tennis instructor who will teach the basic strokes and introduce to a sport you can play throughout your life.

The “Personal Finance” course will present fundamental principles of money management. Learn about the dangers of borrowing money, how to save money, how to invest money and most importantly how to budget your money. This class is open to anyone 18 and over and will meet for eight weeks starting April 29 on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Instructor, Mikal Lundy, teaches the curriculum of Dave Ramsey and Next Generation Personal Finance in the pursuit of financial independence.

The next session of “Line Dancing” will begin April 12 for five weeks. Classes meet on Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. If the current line dancing class is any indication, it will be another foot stomping success. This is an introduction to line dancing, and the instructor, Lisa Cotter of ‘Get to Steppin’ line dancing company, will introduce a new dance each week, like the Cupid Shuffle and the Macarena. Music genres range from country to pop to soul. Nothing better than dancing to get moving and boost your mood.

Adult soccer is currently being planned for the spring. Matches will be played at the Wesley Bishops Turf Fields on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. Check out the website below for updates on these two programs.

The “Senior Women’s Club” will re-open on Tuesday, April 13 from noon to 3 p.m. at the New Albany Recreation Center. This warm, embracing group offers coffee, snacks, crafts, games, book swaps and good company. They also run two to three bus trips each year and plan special live musical events — singing along, optional. For further information contact Terry Kelly at (856)866–1869.

The “Senior Card Club” meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon at the New Albany Recreation Center. Catch up with peers and play cards. For further information call Frank McAleer at (856)905–1883. No registration necessary for the senior programs. Just show up and enjoy.
