Release according to the Gloucester Township Police Department.
On Monday March 15, 2021 at approximately 9:04 p.m., the Gloucester Township Police and EMS were dispatched to Brookshire Road for a male who was making threatening statements against others including threats to kill police officers. The accused left his residence on foot prior to police arrival.
A short time later the accused man was located walking in the neighborhood. He appeared to be upset and officers attempted to de-escalate the situation by communicating with him. While communicating with him, mobile crisis outreach was contacted and advised he should be transported to a local hospital for a crisis evaluation.
The man refused to cooperate with officers and would not get off of the ground. Officers then helped him off of the ground and as he was being safely secured in handcuffs he began to pull away from officers and began to curse and threaten the officers. While officers attempted to gain control of the man, he punched two officers in the face and bit another officer in the upper leg.
During the confrontation two body worn cameras were dislodged from the officers and damaged. There was one minor injury to an officer and no injuries to the accused. The man was secured by officers transported to a local hospital for a crisis evaluation.
