Mt. Laurel has laid out a transition report outlining the new council’s goals and objectives. The report includes progress and improvements for the township as Mt. Laurel continues to be a booming business hub and has grown in both diversity and population.
Transition Committee Chair Carol Murphy (D-Mt. Laurel) has worked with the transition team to provide an outline for the township’s next steps.
Murphy said: “It was an honor to serve as Chairwoman of the transition committee for Mt. Laurel Township. We had a tremendous team with committee members providing their expertise, ideas and countless hours to play an important role in our effort to provide the new administration a roadmap for progress in Mt. Laurel. Our recommendations focused on open government, transparency, and policies that recognize the critical need to modernize and innovate in the years ahead. Mt Laurel has a growing population with unique transportation needs and significant economic opportunities that requires a forward-looking vision to maximize success through smart policies. I’m very thankful for the work from so many to help chart our new course and encouraged that Mt. Laurel will be a beacon of opportunity in South Jersey.”
The transition team report includes policy recommendations for economic development, public affairs, neighborhood and public safety, and housing. A key goal of the report is the responsibility to stay engaged with Mt. Laurel residents.
Mayor Stephen Steglik expressed his commitment to open communication of the council.
