Shamong Municipal Building closed indefinitely

The township is closing its office as a precaution as COVID-19 cases rise

The following is a statement from Shamong Township Administrator Sue Onorato:

Effective 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021 the Shamong Municipal Building will be closed to the public and will remain closed to the public until further notice.  We are taking this precaution to minimize our staff’s exposure due to the recent increase in cases of Coronavirus, while meeting the needs of our community. You may still contact our staff via telephone during their scheduled hours or via email. For your assistance, the Township Staff contact information is provided below.

Updates will be posted to our website regarding any changes to our municipal services, hours of operations, etc. We strongly recommend you continue to monitor the news stations for the most current recommendations/guidelines established by the Federal, State & County governments as we often learn of these changes the same way you do. 


All Public Meetings of the Township Committee, Joint Land Use Board, and  Rent Control Board – will be held virtually via Zoom format until further notice. Please access the Township website ( for details.

We encourage RESIDENTS and CONTRACTORS to use the Drop-Box located on the building entrance closest to the meeting room for: dog licenses, tax payments, permit payments. We will email or mail receipts.
