Medford Fire cancels annual Santa drive by event

"We understand this will be disappointing to our community," the Department wrote on its Facebook page.

Santa won’t be visiting Medford before Christmas this year.

Medford Department of Fire has decided to cancel its annual Santa drive by in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to not escort Santa around town this year,” The Department posted on its Facebook Page. “With the ongoing pandemic, and the increasing numbers, and being hard hit ourselves we can not justify potentially exposing our members and their families unnecessarily. We understand this will be disappointing to our community. It is just as disappointing to us as we take great pride and satisfaction in doing this for all of you each year.  The health and safety of our members is paramount and we are working hard to protect them so we are ready at a moments notice in time of need. We look forward to returning with Santa in 2021.

We thank you for your continued support, and wish all of you Happy Holidays and a happy and healthy New Year.”
