GTPD offers tips for preventing package thefts

With online shopping on the rise this holiday season, local police departments are on the watch for porch thefts

With the holiday season in full swing, the Gloucester Township Police Department recently offered a list of recommendations to residents to help avoid package theft, as more and more consumers continue to purchase things online.

The list recently compiled by the GTPD recommended that residents:

  • Bring packages inside as soon as they arrive
  • Reschedule a delivery if they know they won’t be home
  • Ask neighbors to grab a package to hold until home
  • Leave special instructions on where to deliver a package, so as to put it out of sight from the street
  • Use a company that can provide a tracking number

Remember to report any suspicious person and/or act immediately to the Gloucester Township Police Department by calling 911 for an emergency and (856) 228-4500 for a non-emergency.
