Another COVID case at Shawnee could cause temporary closure

An individual at the high school tested positive on Saturday

On Saturday, an individual at Shawnee High School tested positive for COVID-19. The District is coordinating closely with the Burlington County Health Department and following CDC and state guidelines in order to ensure the health and safety of our community.

Per the guidelines of the Health Department, Shawnee will remain open this week. Please be advised that another unlinked, positive COVID-19 case by December 16 may result in a temporary closure. As of this date, there is no evidence of a COVID-19 spread from within the high school building and contact tracing is underway. If you are identified as a close contact (within 6 feet for 15 cumulative minutes or more over 24 hours), you will receive additional notifications in the form of a phone call and a letter. If you do not receive additional notification, no further action is required.

This is Shawnee’s 10th COVID-19 case since Nov. 28.

Principal Matthew Campbell appreciates the community’s support and cooperation. Any student or staff member who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (COVID-19 Screening Tool) or being tested should notify the school nurse and remain home from school and all extra-curricular activities.
