“I hope that everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving. It’s my hope that through our collective sacrifices we have averted a greater surge in cases caused by the holiday,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“This weekend we must continue to keep our guards up and take precautions to avoid spreading this disease. Even though Thanksgiving is over, our fight against COVID-19 is not. We have to maintain this level of awareness to make sure our hospitals are not overburdened and we are able to return to normal in the coming months.”

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,697 confirmed resident cases and 775 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 18,820 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 350 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 607 total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
