RCSJ aims to spread goodwill, cheer despite the distance

For Rowan College of South Jersey’s (RCSJ) Gloucester campus Student Government Association (SGA), not even a pandemic can dampen their holiday spirit. The SGA, in partnership with the Rowan College Foundation and the Center for People in Transition, will move their 12th annual Season of Giving community project to a virtual platform to ensure that the event spreads nothing but goodwill and cheer.

The Season of Giving project encourages RCSJ students, staff, faculty and community members to come together to provide gifts that will make the holiday season a little brighter for Gloucester County children in need. To keep participants socially distanced and safe, this year the SGA is seeking online monetary donations in lieu of physical gifts. Every dollar donated will go towards the purchase of gifts for the 95 local children currently looking to the program for some seasonal cheer. New for 2020, donors may also choose to sponsor a grocery store gift card to ensure the entire household is able to celebrate their chosen holiday with the universal tradition of a festive family meal.

“We are excited to once again partner up with Rowan College of South Jersey on their annual Season of Giving – every year we help over 30 families with gifts and food for the holidays,” said Crystal Noboa, Director of the Center for People in Transition. “Our mission is to help displaced homemakers achieve self-sufficiency through life-skills training, education or vocational training, advocacy and supportive services. Becoming self-sufficient is a challenging task and having financial support during the holidays puts them one step closer to achieving their goals.”

A $25 dollar donation buys a child’s gift; for a $75 donation a child’s entire wish list can be granted; each $100 dollar donation sponsors a grocery store gift card that will feed the whole family – or donate in any amount you choose. Join the RCSJ Student Government Association’s mission to spread some holiday cheer and visit RCSJ.edu/SeasonOfGiving by Wed., Dec. 23 to make your donation.
