Harrison Township School District seeks gift card donations for ‘Giving Tree’

The Walmart gift cards will enable families in need to shop for the holidays

Every year, Harrison Township School District sponsors a “Giving Tree” in the lobbies of both Harrison Township Elementary School and Pleasant Valley School which helps families right here in town. This year, more than ever, the district would like to continue with this charitable project.

The district is asking the community to join in donating Walmart gift cards for families that are in need during this holiday season. Walmart gift cards will enable families to be able to buy clothing, toys, and other supplies, such as food. The district strives to give parents $100 worth of Walmart gift cards per child. Since this usually helps about 130 children, the goal is to raise $13,000 again this year.

Starting next week, the district is asking able families to join the school staff in this worthy project. For those with children in the school district, gift cards can be sent in with the child or brought to the main office of either school. Community members without children in the school district are welcome to drop off gift cards at the main offices: Harrison Township Elementary School, 120 North Main St., Attn: HTS Main Office, Mullica Hill; or Pleasant Valley School, 401 Cedar Road, Attn: Main Office, Mullica Hill.

All donations must be returned to school by Dec. 11, which enables the district to distribute to the families. Unfortunately, the district is unable to accommodate any additional gift donations, only gift cards, due to space constraints.

The district thanks the community in advance for help with this project. For questions, please contact the Harrison Township Elementary or Pleasant Valley principals.
