Gloucester County to attend 100th Anniversary of Suffragist Victory: Empowering Modern Women virtual event

Multiple County Commissions on the Status of Women have collaborated on an event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the women’s suffrage movement. The 100th Anniversary of the Suffragist Victory: Empowering Modern Women virtual event is taking place on Monday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. on Zoom.

This collaborative event is being hosted by multiple County Commissions on the Status of Women throughout New Jersey including Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Somerset, Union, Gloucester, Mercer, and Cape May.

“The Gloucester County Commission for Women serves as a fact finding and advisory Commission to the public at large regarding the concerns of women in Gloucester County and suggests and urges reforms in the law, public policy and public attitudes towards women,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger. “We are honored to collaborate with counties across the state to celebrate the suffrage movement.”

This event will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the women’s suffrage movement, and allow participants to learn about the societal, educational, and economic impact of this historic movement to modern women. Participants will network, participate in a panel and discussion sessions.

“Serving as liaison to the Gloucester County Commission for Women I have experienced first hand the work they do to ensure that women across Gloucester County are heard. This event will allow us to not only reflect on how far women have come, but also look to the future,” said Freeholder Jim Jefferson. Freeholder Jefferson will speak at the event alongside six other panelists.

In addition to the panel of speakers, there will be multiple networking rooms where you can meet and network with other women. Spots are limited and interested individuals are encouraged to register as soon as possible. This event is free of charge.
