Shawnee goes all-remote after positive COVID-19 test

All students will participate in remote learning until Monday, Nov. 16.

On Nov. 3, The Lenape Regional High School District learned of an individual at Shawnee High School who tested positive for COVID-19. At this point, there is no evidence that this case is connected to the previously reported cases.

Therefore, at the recommendation of Burlington County Health Officials, Shawnee High School students will learn remotely for two weeks from the last date of exposure to ensure the health and safety of our community. In-person instruction will resume Monday, November 16th. All sports and activities may resume Saturday, November 14th.

All other schools in the district, with the exception of Lenape, will remain open for in-person learning.

Contact tracing is underway. If you are identified as a close contact (within 6 feet of a person who is infected with COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more within a 24-hour period) you will receive an additional notification via telephone and email. No further action is required if you do not receive an additional notification.

Please continue to contact the school nurse or any administrator at Shawnee if you receive news about a positive case within your family or a close contact during remote days. They can assist you in the proper protocols as well as start contact tracing as part of the district’s requirement.

The District knows this is disappointing news for our students and families. We can all do our part by limiting our social interactions outside of school and ensuring we keep 6 feet from others while wearing masks. The hope is that during the next two weeks we can regroup as a community and return healthy and safe. As this situation remains fluid, if there needs to be an adjustment of dates based on additional positive cases, we will notify our school community.

More information will be sent by Principal Matthew Campbell regarding our schedule for the next two weeks, the expectations for live/remote instruction for staff and students, and how to arrange access to the building for any materials, if needed.
