Gloucester County releases unofficial election results

In unofficial results released by Gloucester County, 4,798 votes have been cast in the race for Monroe Township Council Ward 1. Democrat Steven J. McKinney is in the lead, with 2,643 votes, over Republican Blake Edwards, who garnered 2,141 votes. Write-in candidates accounted for 14 votes.

In the race for Monroe Township Ward 2, 4,271 votes have been counted. In the lead is Democratic candidate Carolann Fox (2,113 votes) followed by Republican James ‘Jay’ Reed (1,629 votes). Independent candidate Joseph A. Broderick has garnered 518 votes. Write-in candidates accounted for 11 votes.

In the race for Monroe Township Ward 3, 4,487 votes have been counted. Democratic candidate Ronald T. Garbowski is in the lead with 2,543 votes. Republican candidate Edgar Ruiz has garnered 1,936 votes. Write-in candidates accounted for 8 votes.

In the race for Monroe Township Ward 4, 4,179 votes have been counted. Democratic candidate Joe Marino is in the lead with 2,144 votes and Republican candidate Chelsea Valcourt has garnered 2,026 votes. Write-in candidates accounted for 9 votes.

In other unofficial election results, the presidential race showed a stronger turnout for Democrat Joseph R. Biden in Gloucester County, with 76,925 voters – or 51.52 percent – choosing the Democratic candidate over Republican Donald J. Trump, who trailed with 69,839 votes, or 46.77 percent of the votes.

In the U.S. Senate race, Gloucester County voters also cast more ballots for Democrat Cory Booker over Republican challenger Rikin “Rik” Mehta, with 51.52 percent and 46.50 percent of the votes, respectively.

For the House of Representatives 1st District seat, Democrat incumbent Donald W. Norcross was showing a lead in unofficial results, coming in with 54.33 percent of the vote over Republican challenger Claire H. Gustafson’s 45.54 percent.

The race for the three Gloucester County Freeholder seats was a tight one according to unofficial results, with Democrats Heather Simmons (18.02 percent), Jim Jefferson (17.35 percent) and Lyman Barnes (17.22 percent) ahead of Republicans Nick DeSilvio (16 percent), Chris Konawel (15.79 percent) and George W. Shivery Jr. (15.53 percent).
