Gloucester County releases unofficial election results

In unofficial results released by Gloucester County, 26,349 votes have been cast in the race for Mayor of Washington Township. Democrat Joann Gattinelli is in the lead, with 13,660 votes, over Republican Vincent Spinelli, who garnered 11,004 votes, and independent candidate Giancarlo D’Orazio, who has 1,651 votes. Write-in candidates accounted for 34 votes.

For the race for two seats on Washington Township Council, Republicans Anthony DellaPia (13,191 votes) and Richard Bennett (13,002 votes) have a slight lead over Democrats Joseph Perry (12,923 votes) and Raymond Dinovi (12,763 votes).

In other unofficial election results, the presidential race showed a stronger turnout for Democrat Joseph R. Biden in Gloucester County, with 76,925 voters – or 51.52 percent – choosing the Democratic candidate over Republican Donald J. Trump, who trailed with 69,839 votes, or 46.77 percent of the votes.

In the U.S. Senate race, Gloucester County voters also cast more ballots for Democrat Cory Booker over Republican challenger Rikin “Rik” Mehta, with 51.52 percent and 46.50 percent of the votes, respectively.

For the House of Representatives 1st District seat, Democrat incumbent Donald W. Norcross was showing a lead in unofficial results, coming in with 54.33 percent of the vote over Republican challenger Claire H. Gustafson’s 45.54 percent.

The race for the three Gloucester County Freeholder seats was a tight one according to unofficial results, with Democrats Heather Simmons (18.02 percent), Jim Jefferson (17.35 percent) and Lyman Barnes (17.22 percent) ahead of Republicans Nick DeSilvio (16 percent), Chris Konawel (15.79 percent) and George W. Shivery Jr. (15.53 percent).
