Gloucester County releases unofficial election results

In the race for Mantua Township Committee, Democrat John Legge leads over Republican Sean Sepsey

In unofficial results released by Gloucester County, 8,576 votes have been cast in the race for a seat on Mantua Township Committee. Democratic incumbent John Legge is in the lead, with 4,460 votes – or 52.01 percent – over Republican challenger Sean Sepsey, who garnered 4,106 votes, or 47.88 percent. Write-in candidates made up the remaining .12 percent of the vote.

For the uncontested race for three seats on Mantua’s Board of Education, Daniel Fellona earned 33.29 percent of the votes, with Karen Vick earning 33.04 percent and Bonnie G. Nuss earning 32.68 percent. For Mantua’s two seat on the Clearview Regional High School Board of Education, Michele Giaquinto (37.41 percent) and Jamie L. Burk (35.96 percent) were in the lead over David S. Burgin (25.70 percent).

For the uncontested race for two seats on the Board of Fire Commissioners in Mantua, candidates Leonard R. Campbell and Nicholas A. Vacarino pulled in nearly the same amount of votes, with 49.73 percent and 49.47 percent, respectively. Write-in candidates accounted for .80 percent of the vote.

In other unofficial election results, the presidential race showed a stronger turnout for Democrat Joseph R. Biden in Gloucester County, with 76,925 voters – or 51.52 percent – choosing the Democratic candidate over Republican Donald J. Trump, who trailed with 69,839 votes, or 46.77 percent of the votes.

In the U.S. Senate race, Gloucester County voters also cast more ballots for Democrat Cory Booker over Republican challenger Rikin “Rik” Mehta, with 51.52 percent and 46.50 percent of the votes, respectively.

For the House of Representatives 2nd District seat, Republican incumbent Jeff Van Drew was showing a lead in unofficial results, coming in with 50.82 percent of the vote over Democratic challenger Amy Kennedy’s 47.07 percent.

The race for the three Gloucester County Freeholder seats was a tight one according to unofficial results, with Democrats Heather Simmons (18.02 percent), Jim Jefferson (17.35 percent) and Lyman Barnes (17.22 percent) ahead of Republicans Nick DeSilvio (16 percent), Chris Konawel (15.79 percent) and George W. Shivery Jr. (15.53 percent).
