United Methodist Church of Mantua collecting for Operation Christmas Child

Donations can be made through end of October

The following is a release from United Methodist Church of Mantua:

The COVID-19 global pandemic has disrupted everyday life for millions of people around the world. Yet, Samaritan’s Purse continues to share the eternal hope of the Gospel and to serve in Jesus’ Name. So, we of the JUG (Just Us Girls) Class would like to join with them again this year in sponsoring Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes in our Church.

This year our emphasis will not be on “one more,” but on the fact that each individual shoe box will let a boy or girl somewhere in this world know that God loves them and has not forgotten them during this time of fear and uncertainty.  Each one has the potential to make a wonderful difference in a child’s life.

We do realize, however, that for some of us our financial situation has changed, as well as our shopping ability, so if it is not feasible to fill a box or make a monetary donation, please offer the best gift of all –  prayers for Samaritan’s Purse as they lead this event, and most of all for the children who receive the boxes that their hearts and lives will be touched by the Love of Jesus.

A table is set up in McConnell Hall for the month of October, holding empty shoe boxes, suggested item lists, etc. If you would like to donate, please make your check payable to “Samaritan’s Purse” with memo indicating” Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes.” You may place any filled boxes on that same table. If attendance is still limited at that time, you may drop them off during the week. If you are attending, of course, you may bring them on Sunday. If you have any questions, please contact Ann Newcomb at (856) 468-5549 or Elda Barger at (856) 468-2072, or any other JUG member.

Thank you for your past support of this project and if you are able, we would sincerely ask you to once again, if possible, reach out to the children of this world with the Love of Jesus through the simple gift of a filled shoe box and prayer.

UMC of Mantua is located at 201 Mantua Blvd., Mantua.
