RCBC plans virtual ‘Dress for Success’ event Oct. 21

Program helps prepare graduates entering the workforce

Wondering how Rowan College at Burlington County prepares graduates to enter the workforce? Along with equipping students with subject-matter knowledge and skills, the college offers a robust array of career services, including resume-building, interviewing tips, networking opportunities and more.

Join RCBC at 1 p.m. on Oct. 21 at our Facebook Town Hall, as we invite students who have benefitted from another career services initiative: Dress for Success. Dress for Success offers upcoming graduates free career readiness training, professional attire and a makeover. Participants also have the opportunity to network with businesses. You’ll hear from 2020 Dress for Success participants Cara McMullen and Kennedy Vazquez. You’ll also learn more about Career Services as a whole from 3+1 Communications student and Career Services administrative assistant Briana Harrison.

“I got a lot out of it. My resume is 30 years old; they (Career Services) showed me how to revamp it and how to market myself. It’s amazing what this whole program does. I am still floored that I got free clothing, and I get more compliments on that than anything else I wear. I can still contact anyone in Career Services if I have questions,” Cara McMullen said.

The 2021 Dress for Success application opens to all spring 2021 graduates and transfer students on October 21, 2020, and the event will occur on April 22, 2021. To view last year’s virtual event, click here.

“I’ve learned to take every opportunity that comes at you. Even though we went fully remote in March, we were ready for an interview, knew how to present ourselves and were equipped with resume-building skills. I would say to do it because it’s a great resource to have,” Kennedy Vazquez, who now studies film at Rider University, said.
