County sees ‘troubling rise’ in COVID-19 cases

The aggregate number of confirmed positive cases is 11,308  in Camden County.

The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 217 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed between Saturday, Oct. 10, and Tuesday, Oct. 13. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 11,308 in Camden County today and 559 total fatalities.

“We have been calling attention to a troubling rise in cases recently, and unfortunately, that trend appears to be continuing,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Today, Camden County’s seven-day average of new cases is 56, the highest it has been since June 6. We are experiencing a surge in cases that we have not seen since the spring and we have to respond in kind. Now is the time to reduce your potential exposures to this virus, limit your contact with groups, and strictly adhere to mask usage, social distancing, and other public health recommendations. We need everyone to take this seriously or we are on course for a very difficult winter.”

The Department of Health is announcing 217 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,512 confirmed resident cases and 619 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 11,308 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 331 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 559 total fatalities countywide.
