Local chorAL seeks new members

AL’s chorAl is seeking new members for their choir.

AL’s chorAl, a Cherry Hill based nonprofit organization, is an interfaith senior citizen choir serving South Jersey and Philadelphia, and it is seeking new members to join in a newly formatted virtual choir using Zoom. No auditions are required — just an interest in singing and socializing virtually during the pandemic.

Participants must have a device to connect with Zoom. Membership is free.

The choir rehearses Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The repertoire of music includes pop, rock and some oldies from the past. The choir, ages 50 to 96, is led by a professional music director with the help of a piano accompanist.

Al’s chorAl was created by Gilah Lewis Sietz, in memory of her father Rabbi Albert. Lewis was a spiritual leader for 60 years at Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill. Rabbi Lewis passed away in 2008.

According to Sietz, the choir is a tribute to her father’s love of music and for bringing people of all faiths together.

“There are no auditions to join, just a desire to sing,” she said.
