CamCo reports five deaths, 17 new cases

Two fatalities each recorded in Camden City and Voorhees Township.

The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) revealed on Tuesday five new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 17 additional cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 10,468 in Camden County and 552 total fatalities.

Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

The following information is currently available regarding these most recent deaths in Camden County:

New Case 1: MALE, 80s, VOORHEES
New Case 2: FEMALE, 80s, PENNSAUKEN
New Case 3: FEMALE, 90s, CAMDEN
New Case 4: FEMALE, 60s, CAMDEN
New Case 5: FEMALE, 90s, VOORHEES

“We are deeply saddened to have learned that five Camden County residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in recent days. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“Today marks the first official day of fall, a period which we have repeatedly said will be critical in our fight against this virus. Still, we do not know how the change of season will affect the pandemic, as we are forced to move much of our activities and small gatherings inside when the weather cools. As we move into the next stage of this crisis, please follow the guidelines laid out by our public health officials, wear masks, and continue to social distance.”

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,399 confirmed resident cases and 583 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 10,468 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 316 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 552 total fatalities countywide.

New Patient 10: FEMALE, 30s, PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
