CamCo reports 108 new cases over last three days

On positive note, thorough case review removes 27 deaths from county ledger.

The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 108 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed between Saturday, Sept. 19, and Monday, Sept. 21.  Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

The Health Department is also announcing 27 fewer deaths caused by coronavirus as several out-of-jurisdiction and “possible” cases were removed from the tally. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 10,451 in Camden County today and 547 total fatalities.

Patient information provided at the time of their passing is often incomplete and/or inaccurate. The Health Department investigates every suspected death caused by COVID-19 for accuracy after it has been reported. Over the course of these investigations, the Department has updated inaccurate records so that they contain correct, up-to-date information. As a result of these efforts, the breakdown of deaths per municipality has changed:

“No matter what jurisdiction, county, or state, our hearts and prayers are with the roughly 200,000 Americans who have lost their lives due to COVID-19,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr.

“We are experiencing a slight uptick in cases, with Sunday’s 56 being the largest single day case total we have seen since July. Please continue to take this threat seriously and do everything in your power to protect your circle. Wear a mask, social distance, and avoid large gatherings and parties until it is safe to resume normal activities.”

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,399 confirmed resident cases and 583 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 10,451 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 316 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 547 total fatalities countywide.
