Gloucester County Animal Shelter offering deals on furry friends

GCAS wants to help residents find lifelong friends.

The Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) is open to help Gloucester County families find their new furry friends and is making it more affordable with BOGO deals and reduced adoption fees.

Kittens are eligible for a buy one, get one deal. Additionally, the shelter is discounting adoption fees for the animals at the shelter. Animals six years old and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35. Dogs and cats six years and older will have their adoption fees completely waived.

“We love connecting our animals to loving homes, and offering these discounts will get them with their forever homes without the burden of costly adoption fees,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger.

GCAS is still limiting access to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shelter will now be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while adoption hours are by appointment only Tuesday through Saturday noon to 4 p.m.

Throughout the pandemic, Gloucester County residents have found animals to welcome into their families and find a forever home.

One adoptive parent shared their “pup-date” saying, “Thank you so much for helping me find my best friend! Zoey is the sweetest most loving girl. She gets the zoomies all the time and loves her daily walks, sometimes two a day if the weather is nice. She’s such an active pup that just found a new love for hiking. She has grown so far and I am so grateful to have gotten the help from Gloucester County Animal Shelter in finding my new best friend. Zoey says thank you!”

Zoey was adopted in the beginning of March and has been acclimating to her new life with her forever home.
