Katz JCC earns grant to support Parkinson’s programming

The Katz JCC is proud to announce that it has received a grant in the amount of $16,000 from the Parkinson’s Foundation to support vital programs for people living with Parkinson’s disease. The donation, made through the Parkinson’s Foundation, will be used to expand its current programming in order to offer new evidence-based yoga, dance and movement classes that address all levels on the Parkinson’s disease spectrum.

“Thanks to the Parkinson’s Foundation, the Katz JCC’s Parkinson’s Connection program is giving the Parkinson’s community of South Jersey and the surrounding areas the opportunity to fight back against the disease and feel supported by a new community of friends,” said Stacey Macaluso, Parkinson’s Connection Coordinator. “As the fastest growing neurological disease we are helping people with PD and their families ‘live well’ with Parkinson’s. Together, The Parkinson’s Foundation and the Katz JCC are committed to making lives better for people with Parkinson’s, and this grant will provide hope for the Parkinson’s community.”

The Parkinson’s Connection program is a part of the Richard M. Klein Center for Wellness at the Katz JCC, the hub for all movement and wellness needs for people living with Parkinson’s disease. Exercise is not only necessary for general health; it is also vital in maintaining balance, mobility, gait, tremor, flexibility, grip, strength and coordination. The Parkinson’s Connection program offers a variety of programs to improve fitness, function and overall quality of life.
