The 2020 Libertarian National Convention was a first of its kind entirely online nomination convention, attended by approximately 1,000 delegates, using Zoom on Memorial Day weekend. The delegates nominated its first female presidential candidate, Dr. Jo Jorgensen (SC). Jorgensen has a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology, is a senior lecturer at Clemson University, and a former Libertarian vice presidential candidate in 1996 to Presidential candidate Harry Browne.

After nominating Dr. Jorgensen, the delegates adjourned in favor of continuing the convention in person at Rosen Shingle Creek Resort (Orlando, FL) from July 8 to July 12. There has been much debate, sometimes heated, about whether this in person portion of the convention should (or could) take place. Alternate plans, including a hybrid plan allowing delegates to participate in person or virtually are currently being discussed. The Rosen venue and the LP’s Convention Oversight Committee are discussing COVID-19 preparedness plans to keep delegates safe.

Bowen, who is 61-years-old, grew up in the Erlton section of Cherry Hill and resides there today. He has a bachelor of arts in Accounting (1981) and an M.B.A. in Business Administration (1988), both from Rutgers University — Camden. He is currently a sole proprietor Certified Public Accountant and specializes in partnership tax preparation.

He has formally held the positions of Treasurer on the New Jersey Libertarian Party State Board and the Libertarian Party Mises Caucus. He is also a current member of the LNC’s (Alexandria, VA) Audit Sub Committee. He most recently held the positions of Camden County Coordinator for Gary Johnson’s (L) 2016 presidential campaign, Treasurer for Peter Rohrman’s (L) run for Governor in 2017, and served as Dr. Murray Sabrin’s (L) Treasurer and Deputy Campaign Manager in his election bid for US Senate in 2018.
