The Gloucester County Animal Shelter is celebrating Adopt a Cat Month in June.
June marks the height of “kitten season,” when large litters of kittens are born and brought to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter.
“We always see an influx in kittens at our shelter around this time,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger. “The shelter is dedicated to getting these adorable kittens into forever homes and will help anyone through the adoption process.”
Residents interested in adopting an animal from the shelter can fill out an application online at www.gloucestercountynj.com. Adoptions are only available to Gloucester County residents at this time.
The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while adoption hours are by appointment only Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
“Although the COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to temporarily close to the public, we’re still scheduling families to come in and adopt our animals,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco, liaison to the shelter.
Animals at the shelter are currently available at a discounted adoption rate. The shelter is still discounting adoption fees for the animals at the shelter. Animals 6 years and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35. Dogs and cats 6 years and older will have their adoption fees completely waived.
Any pet owner struggling to feed their pets due to the COVID-19 pandemic, can visit the Pet Food Pantry to pick up pet food for their dogs and cats.
