Evesham reminds residents to observe social distancing during passive recreation

Facial masks are strongly recommended for those visiting township parks and Black Run Preserve

Madeleine Maccar The Sun: While neighborhood parks in Evesham and Black Run Preserve have reopened, the township’s municipal playground equipment, playing fields, courts and other sports facilities will remain closed.

Evesham Township and the Evesham Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM) have made the decision to reopen Evesham’s neighborhood parks for passive recreation as of April 30. This decision is being made in an effort to encourage healthy exercise and living during this difficult time.

While these parks are open, all social distancing guidelines will still apply. Individuals/families must keep at least six feet of distance from any other non-family-members also visiting the same park. Casual assemblage of groups is not permitted. Evesham Township also strongly recommends that all those who visit a neighborhood park wear a face covering.

At this time, the township’s municipal playground equipment, playing fields, courts and other sports facilities will remain closed. Organized, group athletic activities are still prohibited at all municipal locations.

As the Black Run Preserve reopened to members of the public May 2, Evesham Township asks that visitors keep their visits to one hour or shorter to give other visitors a chance to utilize the preserve, due to high demand and limited parking space. The Township once again strongly recommends that all visitors wear a face covering. Preserve visitors must use only the designated parking area. Residents should leave if the designated park area is full. Parking along roads is not allowed.

Evesham Township and the Evesham Township OEM expect all visitors to neighborhood parks and the Black Run Preserve to follow all guidelines outlined above. Both the township and OEM will closely monitor the situation to ensure that all proper health and sanitary precautions are followed.

Additional information regarding the reopening of the Indian Spring Golf Course will be forthcoming.
