A GoFund Me page has been launched to support a local family whose home was destroyed following a fire on Thursday in Harrison Township.

Shortly after 1 p.m., Harrison Township firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of Harrisonville Road for a reported dwelling fire. A Harrison Township fire engine arrived to find a home with fire on the first floor and extending to the second.

Firefighters began a search for the residents after they couldn’t be located initially. The search was called off once firefighters were overwhelmed by the conditions. It took more than three hours to bring the fire under control, partially due to winds of 30 miles per hour or more. Firefighters did find the residents outside the home and reported everyone safe. There were no reported injuries.

A GoFundMe page identified the homeowners as the Sowney family. A fundraiser has been launched to help support the family. To donate, visit www.gofundme.com/f/1ztcqx1t40.
