Mayor’s Message: Update on park renovations, Township officials participate in drive-by parade

Mayor Joann Gattinelli discusses the upgrades residents can expect at parks when they re-open following the pandemic.

Mayor Joann Gattinelli, Washington Township police officer Iggizi and Council President Joe Perry were part of last Monday’s drive-by parade for Jefferson Hospital employees last Monday.

Grenloch Park and Veterans Memorial

I am pleased to provide another update on the renovations being completed at Grenloch Park. The Department of Public Works has made the following improvements: repainted benches, garbage cans, and the main pavilion, installed a new entrance sign, replaced the main gates, installed new park signs, refurbished the volleyball court, net and fencing. We also have the following planned in the few weeks: the parking lot will be completely seal coated and re-striped, general landscaping cleanup and we will establish the site of a brand new pavilion that will be installed shortly. We are excited to share these new improvements with you and hope to have the park back open as soon as it is safe for all residents.

I am also excited to share that the restoration and rehabilitation of the Veterans Memorial in All Veterans Park is almost completed. The DPW started this project earlier this year and the work has been progressing as expected. This is just one way to honor our veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Thank You Healthcare Workers during Covid-19

On Monday, April 27, my administration, council members and I joined the Washington Township First Responders and various other agencies from the surrounding area to show our appreciation for the amazing healthcare workers at Jefferson Health, Washington Township. Emergency response vehicles drove past Jefferson Hospital in a large convoy to recognize and honor the employees who have been on the front lines. I was proud to see healthcare workers lined up on the street and watching through windows in a return of gratitude as they watched the first responders in the drive-by.
We thank you for your courage and strength during this pandemic and appreciate everything you do!
