Shawnee postpones prom to tentative date

Shawnee High School Principal Matthew Campbell pushed out the message on social media regarding the senior prom.

In a note published on Twitter by Shawnee High School’s Class of 2020 Twitter account, Principal Matt Campbell informs students of a tentative senior prom date of June 15. The full letter is below:

Dear Class of 2020

We know this year has not been what you had expected. We are in the middle of a world health crisis. We are doing everything we can do to salvage the remaining events from your senior year.

Governor (Phil) Murphy has required all schools to remain closed indefinitely. With that being said, we are holding out a hope for our ability to hold your Senior Prom.

After discussions with student leaders, and due to the lack of available dates with the venue, we have pushed the date of the Senior Prom back to a tentative date of June 15. It is important to understand that the Senior Prom will only take place if we are back in school.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please be safe and know that we will do everything we can to make the most out of your senior year.

Matthew Campbell, Principal.
