Resurfacing on Mantua Paulsboro Road slated for next week

Construction will begin on the road between Edwards Run Road to the New Jersey Turnpike overpass on April 1.

Gloucester County is performing a road work project beginning April 1 in Mantua and Harrison townships.

“Right now, people are doing their part to help flatten the curve and staying indoors to self-isolate,” Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said. “Thanks to our resident’s compliance and cooperation, we’re taking this time to do some much needed paving work on our county roads.”

The Gloucester County Highway Department will be resurfacing Mantua Paulsboro Road from Edwards Run Road to the New Jersey Turnpike overpass beginning Wednesday, April 1. The construction will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is expected to last two days, weather permitted. Areas affected include Mantua, Harrison, West Deptford and East Greenwich.

The roadway will be detoured but will allow traffic to flow in one direction throughout the length of the project. The detour will be posted by the contractor. Residents shall have access to their driveways at all times.

“We are taking proactive measures to maintain our roadways,” said Freeholder Heather Simmons. “We’re very grateful to our residents for abiding by social distancing and taking measures to protect our community from COVID-19 spread.”

All road work crew will abide by social distancing regulations set by the CDC.
