Letter to the Editor: School district making a ‘team effort’

In the past week, employees across the district – even without school being open – worked tirelessly to be sure parents and students in the district received all the necessary tools needed to keep learning open.

The school districts field technicians were available to distribute electronic devices to parents so that remote learning could occur for students at home. Principals and their secretaries were present to allow teachers and students into school to retrieve any resources needed to continue the educational process away from school. Nurses stationed the schools to provide opportunities for parents to secure medication for their child normally administered at school to be used at home during the school closure period. Our facilities staff was working to maintain the cleanliness and safety of our schools while students were home. The Malberg Administration Office staff was hard at work to maintain the everyday functions of the school district with things like student registration.

Teachers were on call assisting parents and students as they navigated the opening of the remote learning experience in the beginning of the week. Teachers will continue to provide enrichment activities via Google Classroom for students all through the school closure period while also communicating with parents and students.

It was truly a “team” effort this past week by all those involved across our school community. For me, personally, it was rewarding in so many ways to be a part of the process in such a time of uncertainty. In the face of a crisis unlike any before, this serves as a proud moment for all those involved that made it happen.  These are extraordinary times; this is a time when school is “closed” but learning – as a result of the hard work of so many – will remain open.
