Harrison Township provided an update on municipal services as they pertain to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Harrison Township has canceled all scheduled bus trips and has closed all township buildings to the public until further notice. All scheduled court dates have been postponed until further notice. The municipal and public works buildings will be closed effective Tuesday, March 17. The Harrison Township Police Department, however, will remain open to the public.
In a letter to the community, Mayor Lou Manzo said the township will still have employees on-sit and working as normal, and the township will continue to conduct day-to-day business. Residents will be able to drop off tax and other payments in the drop box at the front of the municipal building. The box will be emptied daily. All departments will be able to be contacted by phone as normal during the regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Township Committee meetings will continue to be held on the first and third Mondays of the month at 7 p.m. Meetings will remain open to the public, though only township officials and professionals are required to attend. There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Gloucester County as of Monday morning, however, township officials urge residents to be vigilant and follow the following tips:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces
- Stay at home away from others if you are sick
- Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands
- Do not bring your student to school or come to work at school if you have cold or flu-like symptoms (elevated temperature, fever, cough, shortness of breath).
- Avoid as best as possible, being in the public with large crowds
- Visit the Harrison Township website or Facebook page for up to date information throughout the pandemic.
