E.T. Hamilton experiences lockout situation

According to a notice sent out to parents of children at the school, the lockout was caused due to 'police activity at an adjacent housing development'

According to the Voorhees Township Police Department and information provided by Voorhees Township Public Schools, E.T. Hamilton Elementary School experienced a lockout situation earlier today.

A notice sent out to parents of children at the school by superintendent David Gentile during the day indicated that the lockout was caused due to “police activity at an adjacent housing development.”

According to Public Information Officer Carmen Del Palazzo with the Voorhees Township Police Department, the school was placed on lockout at approximately 11:31 a.m. “as a precaution” due to a reported burglary in progress in the Alluvium section of Voorhees Township.

While students were not in immediate danger, the lockout call was made “out of an abundance of caution given the police activity.” Students and staff were escorted with a police escort in and out of the building throughout the day after the lockout call was made, according to information provided by the school district.

After reporting to the residence, Del Palazzo says the department was unable to locate any suspects.
