WTHS African American Culture Club hosting dinner theater event on Feb. 20

The theme for the seventh annual dinner theater is 'Harlem Renaissance.'

The Washington Township High School African American Culture Club will host its seventh annual Black History Month Dinner Theater on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in Cafeteria C/D. The theme of this year’s event is “Harlem Renaissance.”

The Harlem Renaissance was the development of the Harlem neighborhood in New York City as a black cultural mecca in the early 20th Century and the subsequent social and artistic explosion that resulted. Lasting roughly from the 1910s through the mid-1930s, the period is considered a golden age in African American culture, manifesting in literature, music, stage performance and art.

The evening will include dinner and entertainment by club members, as well as music by the Washington Township High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Frank Appello.

Non-refundable tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 6 and under. Tickets must be purchased in advance.  To secure tickets or for more information, please contact club advisors, Eisa Jackson at ejackson@wtps.org or Adjua Lafleur at alafleur@wtps.org.
