‘Threatening’ social media post nullified for Shawnee

Shawnee High School, and the rest of the Lenape Regional district, was deemed to be safe by law enforcement.

The following message was posted by Principal Matt Campbell on Shawnee’s website:

Parents, staff and students,

Early on the morning of Wednesday, November 20, I was made aware that there was a threating social media post that was sent out late on the night of Tuesday, November 19 and circulating with a picture of airsoft handgun and a comment about not coming to school on Wednesday, November 20. Multiple police agencies were aware of the posting and were involved in the investigation.

Police were able to identify the person that posted the threat and confirmed he was not from the local area or affiliated with Shawnee High School.

The posting had no connection to Shawnee High School or any other Lenape Regional High School District School. As always the safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority.

Please contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding this incident.
