Superintendent John Horchak sent a letter to parents Nov. 6 confirming the death. The district made its first official statement the day before in a letter to the community acknowledging numerous social media posts and student conversations about the death.

Due to the family’s wishes and the privacy protocol of the district, the student’s identity and other information have not yet been made public. The district declined additional comment.

Clearview on Monday implemented crisis response procedures throughout the week for all district students. The district crisis team is supplemented by professionals from the Traumatic Loss Coalition who are available to provide in-school counseling with students in need of support services.

While school was not in session Thursday, its counseling office was open for all district students from 10 a.m. to noon.

For additional questions or further assistance, contact your student’s school counselor by calling the high school counseling office at (856) 223-2710 or the middle school counseling  office at (856) 223-2750.
