Congratulations to Cherokee Marching Band senior, Christina Lee, for being awarded the Tournament of Bands (T.O.B.) – Region 1 Group 3 Open Scholarship.

T.O.B. Region 1 awards one $500 scholarship each year to an outstanding member from each group size and classification. Lee was chosen among 41 candidates in Group 3 who applied. Students filled out an online application and composed an essay pertaining to their participation in the marching band activity and what it has taught them throughout the years.

Christina’s essay spoke of the values, work ethic and structure that the Cherokee High School Band has helped her realize and how the band, as a family, has helped her become a better leader and overall better person.

The scholarships were read anonymously by band directors and the assistant coordinator
of T.O.B. Once reduced to the final five applicants, Christina Lee was the unanimous choice! She is the type of student and role model the Tournament of Bands’ scholarship program embraces.

Congratulations to Christina Lee and the Cherokee Marching Band!
