Festival aiming to provide people with good-natured Halloween fun

The Haunted Hops and Ghoulish Grub festival is on Oct 26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at V & V Adventure Farm.

A heavy dose of all things Halloween is coming to Shamong’s largest adventure farm on Oct. 26, and it’s open to the entire family.

New Jersey Wine and Beer Events is hosting a “Haunted Hops and Ghoulish Grub” festival on their grounds on Oct. 26 at V & V Adventure Farm, 1339 Old Indian Mills Road, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for those 21 and up, and $5 for those under 21, cash only. Kids 2 and younger get in for free. A rain date is scheduled for the next day.

“There’s only one package people can buy, which includes admission, souvenir glass and two beer tickets,” festival organizer Kathy Bullock said. “If you bought all of those things on site, it’ll be $26. It’s $20 online and it’s only available online. That’s only the adult price and is only good for them.”

A beer garden is available for legal adults and costs an additional $7 per glass of beer. The garden is open from noon to 5 p.m. Parking is available on the festival’s grounds. To purchase tickets in advance or learn more, visit NewJerseyWineEvents.com.

Outside food and alcohol are strictly prohibited from the grounds, and people are reminded to keep their pets at home and refrain from smoking. For those looking to relax, she said families can bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Bullock said she’s expecting around 1,000 people to come out for the event to taste the treats from the 12 breweries and food trucks in attendance. Valenzano Winery, who also owns V & V, will be there selling and offering tastings of their wines.

She added tickets include admission to a corn maze, pedal karts, pillow bounce and more. The farm, she said, will also have their on-site activities occurring, at an additional charge.

Families are encouraged to show up in costumes and they can enter in a contest. Costumes are judged by age groups.

Immediately following the close of the festival, Bullock said the farm will be hosting many of its nighttime activities for families to participate in such as the Jersey Devil Haunt, a flashlight corn maze, zombie hayride and a scare-free pumpkin s’mores ride that ends with a bonfire.

“There’s all of these great beers, Valenzano’s, food trucks, bands and all of the fun Halloween activities for everyone of all ages,” she said. “There’s so many things to do there that I don’t think anyone can go there and not find something to do.”
