BTPD investigating fatal pedestrian accident

David Rucker, 64, was struck crossing Sunset Road

At approximately 11:58 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, the Burlington Township Police Department responded to the area of Sunset Road and Hospital Drive for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that David Rucker, a 64-year-old male from Willingboro, was crossing Sunset Road when he was struck by a 2003 Toyota Rav 4. Rucker sustained traumatic injuries and was transported to Virtua Willingboro Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Rucker remained on scene and cooperated with investigating officers. This collision is still under investigation by members of the Burlington Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Burlington Township Police Department Investigations Bureau. No charges have been issued.
