The Harrison Township Historical Society is pleased to invite the community to
a Harvest Buffet dinner on Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m. in Richwood United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall followed by a concert in the church’s historic 1860 sanctuary by Beck’s Philadelphia Brigade Band, an authentic 19th century brass band.
“This is a fun way for us to look back at the founding of the township with a celebratory meal and entertainment by a brass band which is reflective of how people would have gathered when the township was formed in 1844,” said Society President Bob Schumann. Mullica Hill’s Blueplate restaurant is preparing a menu featuring produce and fruit from local farms: vegetarian and gluten free options will be included.
The church and hall are located at 104 Richwood Road, Richwood. Tickets are $42 per person (all-inclusive). Tickets are available online at the Society’s website harrisonhistorical.com – click on the dinner and concert link. Tickets may also be ordered by mail – please include your name, address, phone number, number of tickets, and enclose a check payable to Harrison Township Historical Society, Box 4, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062. The tickets will be held at the door.
“We expect this to sell out and urge people to reserve their places early and not to delay,” Schumann added. “This is a unique event and the 175th anniversary only will happen once”
All proceeds benefit the Society’s exhibitions and educational programs at the Old Town Hall Museum, located at the intersection of South Main St. and Woodstown Rd. in the heart of the Mullica Hill Historic District. This fall, the museum will feature “Dead and Buried: Secrets of South Jersey’s Hidden Cemeteries,” an exhibition of photography of small cemeteries in South Jersey by Lori M. Nichols. The exhibition opens Oct. 12 and continues on Saturdays and Sundays, 1 to 4 p.m. through Dec. 8.
