Gloucester Twp. Police arrested two men from Blackwood on Thursday on numerous charges, including weapons charges and receiving stolen property in the form of a car.
On Thursday, Aug. 15 at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Gloucester Township Police Department received notification of a stolen motor vehicle from our Automatic License Plate Reader. Patrol officers were able to locate the stolen motor vehicle, verified stolen out of Philadelphia in the Hidden Mill development. The vehicle was a newer model Mitsubishi Outlander, which was occupied by one male driver and one male passenger. Officers attempted to conduct the motor vehicle stop, at which time the vehicle pulled into a parking lot off of Hidden Drive and came to a stop. Both occupants of the Mitsubishi exited the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving the vehicle abandoned.
The passenger was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody. The driver fled into a wooded area. Gloucester Township police officers set up a perimeter around the wooded area. With the assistance of K-9 units from the Berlin Borough Police Department and the Pine Hill Police Department, the driver was apprehended during a successful K-9 track. A search of the vehicle revealed one 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun and one .40 caliber Springfield Armory handgun. Both handguns possessed illegal high capacity magazines and one possessed hollow point bullets. The Springfield Armory handgun was reported stolen. One Gloucester Township police officer sustained a knee injury as a result of the foot pursuit.
The drive was identified as 23-year-old Jeakwon Johnson from Blackwood. He was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, two counts of receiving stolen property, one count of resisting arrest, one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of possession of high capacity magazines, one count of possession of hollow point bullets, one count of hindering apprehension and was remanded to Camden County Jail pending his first detention hearing.
The passenger was identified as 20-year-old Emmitt Hardee from Blackwood. He was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, one count of receiving stolen property, one count of resisting arrest, one count of unlawful taking of means of conveyance (passenger), two counts of possession of high capacity magazines, one count of possession of hollow point bullets and was remanded to Camden County Jail pending his first detention hearing.
