Flash Flood Watch issued with heavy rain in the forecast for Tuesday

The watch is in effect for all of South Jersey from 2 p.m. on Tuesday through midnight Wednesday.

More heavy rain is in the forecast for South Jersey as the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the entire region for Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop around midday and continue through the afternoon and evening across the region. Heavy rain is possible with one to two inches falling. Locally heavier amounts of up to three inches are possible. These rainfall totals may occur in a short amount of time, and could lead to flash flooding.

The risk of flash flooding is highest in urbanized and low-lying areas. There could be rapid rises along small creeks and streams. Residents are encouraged to monitor the weather today, especially those who live in areas prone to flooding. Residents should also be prepared to take action if a flash flood warning is issued later today.
