Gloucester County Police Academy accepting applications for alternate route course

The alternate route basic training course will take place in March and August of 2020.

The Gloucester County Police Academy is now accepting applications for civilians interested in enrolling in an alternate route basic police training course slated for March and August 2020.

Applicants must be a New Jersey resident and have earned at least 60 college credits from a regionally-accredited school by December 2019, with a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application or have two years of full-time active military service. Candidates are required to pass a thorough selection process, which includes a physical fitness test, written exam, background check, oral interview, medical examination and psychological assessment prior to admission. Students satisfying the initial program requirements will be invited to an orientation session. College students, graduates, veterans, women and minorities meeting the program’s criteria are encouraged to apply. Deadline for applications is Sept. 13 at 4 p.m.

Graduates of the 19-week alternate route training program will be eligible to become New Jersey police officers provided they are employed full time within three years of graduation from the academy.
