Residents raising money for police AEDs

The following was submitted by Rick Pescatore.

While up to 95 percent of the municipal police agencies in the state carry defibrillators, the Harrison Township Police Department needs our help. Automatic External Defibrillators are lifesaving by increasing the likelihood of surviving a cardiac arrest by 25 percent. When seconds count, having our police equipped with AEDs makes all the difference.

Local residents have teamed up to purchase a few AEDs so far. While we hope these devices never need to be used, the data show that almost 80 percent of officers are called to a patient in cardiac arrest every year. Coupled with dedicated training to guarantee their effectiveness, we hope to have these units in service as soon as possible.

We’ve nearly hit our goal of ensuring every police vehicle in Harrison Township in equipped with these lifesaving devices and your donation can help us make a difference.

All funds collected will be used to buy AEDs for the Harrison Township Police Department. Please help us make sure our local police are ready for the worst by visiting www.GoFundMe.org and searching “Lifesaving Supplies for First Responders.”
