Burlington County announces volunteer opportunities

The Volunteer Center of Burlington County announced multiple volunteer opportunities for local organizations and upcoming events.

Mentors Needed for At-Risk Youth in Burlington and Mercer County:
LifeTies, Inc. is looking for volunteers to mentor youth in Burlington and Mercer County who have experienced chronic absenteeism or have had contact with the juvenile justice system. Mentors engage in building a caring, nurturing relationship with youth to help develop character, social relationship skills, career interests and educational choices. LifeTies provides mentors with broad training and support throughout their time as a mentor. Armed Forces History Museum Upcoming Volunteer Opportunity:
Docent and setup/take down duties for the Burlington County Farm Fair on July 18 to 20. The times of the event are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, then 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday (2 to 4 hour shifts as available). For more information, email marc.iroff@afhmus.org.

Parents, Inc., located in Trenton, is a volunteer-based organization that provides services to parents throughout New Jersey:
Several programs are open to volunteers interested in child abuse prevention: Parent Stressline/Family Helpline Volunteer, Parent support Group and HOPES Group Facilitators and Office Volunteers. Compassus Hospice is seeking kind-hearted and compassionate volunteers to support and assist individuals and their loved ones at the end of their journey:
Understanding that the gift of time and attention given to another is a personal reward like no other, and Compassus Hospice offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities that can fit anyone’s personality and schedule. Administrative, Energy and Massage Therapy, Pet Therapy, Art Therapy, Veteran to Veteran, Music, Caregiver Relief, Angel, and Compassionate Companions are some examples of volunteer opportunities available. Volunteers can impact patients in extraordinary ways. If you have at least one to two hours a week to give, and are committed to volunteering for one year, that would be greatly appreciated.
