This letter to the editor was submitted to The Sun from Mt. Laurel resident Sandra Pratt:
As a registered Mt. Laurel voter, I am deeply concerned about the rise of partisan politics in local government. I believe that voters should have the opportunity to decide if municipal elections should be non-partisan by way of a referendum.
Local government should have nothing to do with partisan politics. I do not want to see my town suffer from the lack of cooperation that is evident on the state and national levels. It is imperative that Mt. Laurel Township Council put politics aside and work together for that which is in the best interest of our community.
Therefore, a referendum on the ballot would allow Mt. Laurel voters the option of holding non-partisan municipal elections. Let the people of Mt. Laurel decide.
