Yellow Garage hosting 13th annual antiques festival on June 8

"Environmental sound shopping" to come to town with annual antiques festival.

Yellow Garage Antiques is hoping to have the 4H Fairgrounds booming with excitement with its 13th annual Festival of Antiques.

The festival will have antique dealers, big and small, looking to sell their goods to attendees from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 8. Admission to the rain or shine event is $5 in advance on TicketLeap, $6 at the door. It is highly recommended to bring cash for purchases. Parking is free.

The 4H Fairgrounds is located on 275 Bridgeton Pike in Mullica Hill.

Chris Swanson of Yellow Garage said new this year will be South Jersey Classic Cars.

It’s not a typical car show where antique cars come by and they reminisce,” said Swanson. “These will be for sale, and they’re hoping to sell, and they’ll have financing arrangements.

He added people can bring in smaller items to deal at the festival, but due to the length of some queues, they may not be able to exchange or sell them.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to see real antiques, history, craftsmanship, artwork,” said Swanson. “The things the dealers bring in are authentic to the 1700s or 1800s.”

According to a press release on the store’s website, there will be “furniture, pottery, fine art, glass, stoneware, textiles, quilts, dolls, Americana, jewelry, clocks, porcelain, sterling, toys, metal-ware, and more” available to purchase. This year, the festival will have more than 50 dealers.

“It’s environmentally sound shopping when you purchase antiques,” said Swanson.

Space may be available on the lawn for people to deal their own antiques, however, it’s recommended to contact Swanson for inquiries at (856) 478-0300.

He added the fairground’s Boots ‘n’ Spurs Cowgirls will be serving refreshments throughout the day and people are encouraged to stay in town and visit other shops in the area.

The historical society will also be at the event selling its book, “Old Harrison Township.” Swanson added a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the society due to its assistance in the event and the significance of it being an antiques festival.

Per a request from the festival organizer, Swanson said the historical society will often open Old Town Hall to attract visitors in to “learn about some of the antiques” and the town’s history.

“It’s a lot of excitement with the people, dealers we haven’t seen in a while, the store gets the people sometimes, and people will often walk downtown afterwards,” said Swanson.
