Taste of Evesham set to return for 11th year on Main Street on May 19

As in years past, this year's event is once again offering attendees the chance to taste samples from the township's local food and alcohol vendors.

Evesham residents are once again just a few days away from entering local food heaven with the annual Taste of Evesham set to open for year 11.

The 2019 Taste of Evesham is set for Sunday, May 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. along Evesham’s Main Street, rain or shine.

As in years past, this year’s event is once again offering attendees the chance to taste samples from the township’s local food and alcohol vendors.

Just some of the local restaurants and eateries already set for this year’s event include Smoothie King, Classic Cake, b.good, Bonefish Grill, Ciconte’s Italia Pizza, a Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Truck, Marlton Tavern, Sal’s Pizza Works, J-Dogs Catering & Special Events, Andale Latino Grill, ShopRite a La Cart Catering, Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant, OrganicoPizza, Cups & Cones, Nene’s Italian Market and Rita’s Water Ice.

Wine and beer samplings will also be provided from Zed’s Beer – Bado Brewing and Traino’s Wine & Spirits.

This year’s event will also once again feature local, live music to help attendees treat their ears as they make their way up and down Main Street to treat their tastebuds and stomachs.

Tickets for this year’s event are set at $10 to sample food or $15 to sample food and alcohol. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance of the event.

“This is an event brought to you by the volunteers within the Evesham Celebrations Foundation – a foundation that still secures dollars from sponsorships and fundraisers,” said Evesham Councilman Ken D’Andrea, who also serves as with the Evesham Foundations Celebrations Foundation.

The foundation began more than 10 years ago, and although the foundation works closely with the township to coordinate its events, it does not use taxpayer monies to fund its activities.

As noted by D’Andrea, the Evesham Celebrations Foundation uses private donations to fund events such as the Taste of Evehsam, annual Fourth of July celebrations and Harvest Fest in the fall.

In addition, the foundation also provides the “Verna H. Powell Memorial Scholarship for Community Service” each year to three graduating seniors in the Renaissance Club at Cherokee High School who are active community volunteers.

With that in mind, D’Andrea said the foundation continues with no financial or operational issues, but as with many other nonprofit organizations, the group is always looking for more volunteers to help with the many activities throughout the year.

“As you see in pretty much every nonprofit world that’s out there, volunteerism is at a premium,” D’Andea said. “We continue to do what we can to bring on folks to help with these events.”
